Nigel’s Running for Life After Lary.

On the 12th April 2026, Nigel will take on The Maverick Brighton Trail Marathon — the UK’s first-ever off-road trail marathon — to raise awareness and vital funds for Life After Lary, a new UK charity supporting people affected by laryngeal cancer and total laryngectomy. Life After Lary was founded to empower patients and carers with up-to-date information, peer support, and advocacy for better standards of care and quality of life after cancer treatment.

Life After Lary

Nigel’s journey hasn’t been about miles — it’s been about meaning. From someone who never considered himself a runner — before or after cancer — he’s transformed grit and determination into purpose. Every kilometre he trains and runs stands for the resilience of those whose voices and lives have been changed forever.

This challenge isn’t just a marathon. It’s a movement — driving visibility, dignity, and systemic change for people with throat cancer and those facing life after a laryngectomy. Your support fuels awareness, practical resources, and hope.

World Voice Day fundraising

Thu, 16 Apr 2026 is World Voice Day. This is a worldwide annual event devoted to the celebration of the phenomenon of voice. The aim is to demonstrate the enormous importance of the voice in the daily lives of all people. This particularly highlights the difficulty those who have underwent a laryngectomy can face as they no longer have their natural voice. We would like to use this day to encourage our supporters to hoist fundraising events.

The posters below highlight potential challenges you and your family could undertake to raise money. Can you complete the Silent Mile? Or arrange a Mufti Day (Non-Uniform). We welcome any other fundraising ideas you may have! Please contact Life After Lary for more details!
